Vance said he had to explain to her that the video was fake and warned her against believing everything she sees on the internet. AI-generated videos falsely depicting Usha Vance making negative comments about her marriage have circulated online in the past.
The vice president then jokingly revealed that his mother had apparently fallen victim to online scams involving people pretending to be wealthy Nigerian princes.

When podcast host Theo Von suggested that she had fallen victim to Facebook scams, Vance offered an even more humorous description of the situation.

Vance also recalled how fake social media accounts could use the same profile picture while operating under different names, highlighting how difficult it can be for people to distinguish genuine accounts and content from fabricated ones.
The vice president used the story to caution people about the growing threat posed by AI-generated content and online misinformation, urging users to be more careful about what they believe and share online.
